Are you on Twitter yet? Twitter is a free service on the Internet that allows
you to communicate with people via short messages or “tweets.”
You can “follow” people with similar interests. For example, you can follow my tweets by going to http://twitter.com/travelojos and clicking on “follow.”
Don’t know anyone on Twitter yet? You can search Twitter for terms like “Mexico” or “Latin America” to find other fans of the region.
Why bother with this? It’s a great way to share information such as Web sites.
If I have a question about Cancun or Puerto Vallerta, I can usually find the answer by sending a tweet to someone who lives there. Or better yet, I can offer advice or send a relevant article to someone who’s looking for more information about a Latin American destination.

Here’s a list of 12 Latin America fans I follow and why:
- @collazoprojects. Julie Schwietert Collazo is the managing editor of the Matador network. She is an expert on Cuba and lives in New York and Mexico City.
- @garydennes. Gary, an Englishman living in Mexico City, has a nice looking blog called the Mexile.
- @cancuncanuck. Woman behind the blog A Canuck in Cancun. Caution: the pictures on her blog and her tweets about her life in Cancun will make you want to move there.
- @RiverGirlCancun. Operates the RiverGirl blog about life in Cancun. River Girl tells it like it is–on her blog and on Twitter.
- @sumajman. Currently living in Ecuador, he writes about his fascinating experiences geocaching and hiking in the Andes on his blog Andean Trekker.
- @Paloma. Lives in and blogs about Chile. Cuidado, most of her tweets are in Espanol.
- @MotherJungle. Runs the Mother Jungle blog about raising a family in Costa Rica.
- @DoingCostaRica. Web site about Costa Rica is loaded with videos.
- @manzanilloblog. A professional looking blog about all things Manzanillo, Mexico.
- @VallartaVixen. A good resource for all questions on Puerto Vallarta.
- @brendaparaguay. Blogs about her life in Paraguay.
- @bananachris. A resident of Buenos Aires, he’s traveled throughout Latin America. He has a Web site with an interesting collection of YouTube videos.
Let’s add one more to make it a baker’s dozen:
@travelinggreen. A nice blog on sustainable travel, which often covers travel to Latin America.
