The Travelojos Twitter 411 Page shows some great Latin America fanaticos to follow on Twitter. They are broken down into the following categories:
- Media pro: someone who works for a Web site or publishing company that covers travel to Latin American destinations.

- Blogger: a person who maintains a blog about living in or traveling to Mexico, Central or South America.
- Fan: anyone who consistently tweets about Latin America.
If you’d like to be included on this list, please leave a comment with your Twitter name. Also, please share any other Latin America fans, bloggers, or media pros that you enjoy following on Twitter.
Here are some of the fanaticos I’ve been following lately and why:
Fans:
- @nhohmann. Neil Hohmann is the former host of the Ritmo Latino podcast that just ended in May. He has great taste in music and from time to time he’ll tweet a recommendation.
- @thomashellyer. A real estate agent, who lives in Lake Chapala, Thomas regularly sends informative tweets about the region.
- @lynnerae. An expat digital marketing pro living in Punta Mita, Mexico (near Puerto Vallarta), Lynn’s tweets are as colorful as the sunset on her Twitter home page.
- @katejb. Based in Mexico City, Kate is working on a travel guide about Belize.
Bloggers:
- @guanabee. If you’re interested in snarky coverage of Latin pop culture, this is the blog for you. It takes more of an US Weekly than a People magazine approach to writing the latest gossip about Latin stars.
- @Marinavillatoro. Marina blogs about all things Costa Rica. Many of her tweets include photos of wildlife and other fascinating aspects of the country.
- @stuenperu. Follow Stu and receive updates about his exploits traveling around Peru.
- @LatinArtE. Any Quadra is co-founder of LatinArt-E, Inc, which sells authentic Latin American jewelery and art. Its mission is to “create just and sustainable economic systems through Fair Trade.”
- @chefana. Host and owner of La Villa Bonita Mexican Culinary Vacation. Her cooking school is located in the beautiful mountain village of Tepoztlan, Morelos, Mexico.
- @CheSpotting. Tweets “pictures of the iconic Che Guevara taken and submitted by travelers from around the world.”
- @guateliving. A blog I just discovered, Guateliving tweets about all things Guatemala.
- @TikiTikiBlog. Another recent discovery, this blog is for “Latinas and Latinos to share essays, photos and video about living Latino in the U.S.”

How aboutmy wife @katejb? She reglarly updates on goings on in Mexic, Central America and South America and will be tweeting with ever more regularity on Belize with our forthcoming travels as she researches her new Great Destinations travel guide.
Oh and you can always follow @insidemexico if you really want to…

Oh so many to follow, but I must admit, my favourites are the “tweeps” who “tweet” in Spanish so not sure how useful my recommendations would be. For English? Well, myself of course, @cancuncanuck , @RiverGirlCancun, @insidemexico and @katejb (just to back up Mr. Simon)
(@travelojos is a given, no?)
I find a lot of the English tweeters about Latin America are trying to sell their product, so while they often have interesting tweets and good information, I’m reluctant to suggest them as they do have an ulterior motive and the majority of their tweets are sales pitches. I still follow, but I am less likely to recommend them to other tweeters.

Hi, thanks for including me in the list. I agree, there are so many great ones to travel, it’s so hard to keep up with all of them:)

@CancunCanuck
You, @RiverGirlCancun, and @InsideMexico are all enshrined on the permanent Travelojos Twitter 411 page.
How could I leave you out? We go way back– since January, which is eons ago in blog time.
That’s a good point you make about vendors on Tweeter. My attitude is that as long as the majority of their tweets are inherently interesting, they’re fine with me. We all have ulterior motives to some extent, don’t we? But, I agree, that too many commercial tweets are a faux pas on Twitter.
