Cinco de Mayo was a bitter-sweet day this year. Sweet for all the usual reasons. Bitter because it was the final episode of the Neil Hohmann’s terrific Latin music podcast Ritmo Latino.
Neil has impeccable taste in music. Earlier this year he turned me onto a new podcast called “The Sounds in My Head.” It’s mostly alternative music from the U.S. and Europe, but it’s very good. In fact, Neil made a guest appearance on the show.
Over the weekend, I discovered that Ritmo Latino’s Facebook Fan page is looking fairly robust these days. There are several free tracks available from super cool Latin groups such as:
- Space Cumbia: a music compilation from La Super Cumbia Futuristica—an artist collective of Mexico City producers and DJ’s;
- Miranda! video Mentia. This is the first track from the “Miranda is Impossible” album;
- Bebel Gilerto: Chica Chica Boom Chic; and
- Los Fabulosos Cadillacs: Contrabando de Amor.
