Having spent most of my life in close proximity to cities, I’ve never acquired a taste for country music. But that hasn’t prevented by teenage daughter from doing so.
With cross-over successes like Taylor Swift or former American Idol contestants such as Kellie Pickler on the radio, country music is finding its way onto more stations than ever.
This isn’t such a bad thing. On car rides with my kids I’d prefer to listen to a song about a tractor than some rapper boasting about his or her latest sexual escapade.
Mexico Fixation. Another thing I enjoy about country music is its fixation with Mexico. As depicted in the typical country song, Mexico is a care-free zone where time is spent drinking and admiring the opposite sex. From time-to-time Spanish words like “cerveza” and “senorita” can be heard too.
Below is a list of seven country songs about Mexico:
- and possibly my favorite country song on Mexico….Blame it on Mexico – by George Strait
Did I miss any good songs?
