Things to Do in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

Next week I’ll  be in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala studying Spanish. When I tire of conjugating verbs, I’m wondering how I’ll occupy myself.

Here are some activities that look promising:

• the hot springs at Las Fuentes Georginas,
• hiking up the Santa Maria volcano (if it’s safe –the Santiaguito volcano, which lies beneath it had a huge eruption recently),
• visiting a market in one of the surrounding towns, or
• volunteering at a local charity.
