The sound of Vienna

Europe hosts a myriad of beautiful holiday destinations. When you start thinking about places to visit on the Old Continent, Vienna definitely comes up in your thoughts.

Vienna offers many beautiful sights.  It captures a variety of grand imperial palaces, Baroque and Romanesque cathedrals, with historic museums standing out against contemporary squares.

Combined with its range of green spaces and the Danube River making its path through its extraordinary centre, Vienna is a city that glides between past and present, offering its visitors a view of culture, history and contemporary art unlike anywhere else in the world.

The city has a significant historical importance based on the ancient Roman influence. Among the numerous attractions that you must visit while in Vienna is the Schloss Schonbrunn. This opulent palace was back in the days an imperial summer residence, and it is regarded by many as one of the most outstanding Austrian cultural monuments. Also, it boasts the world’s oldest zoo.

After you finish sightseeing the Schloss Schonbrunn, try the Belvedere Palace. Located in the heart of Vienna, this gorgeous Baroque masterpiece was the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy in the past. It also features some of the most outstanding gardens. For a magnificent view of the city, be sure to visit Marble Hall in Upper Belvedere.

Once you’ve taken in the architecture and history of the city’s palaces, skip to visiting museums and galleries. This area features examples of modern architecture mixed with Baroque buildings. It’s one of the world’s largest structures that celebrate art and culture. As piece of advice, don’t miss the Leopold Museum, where you will find a large collection of modern Austrian art, and the MUMOK which is a museum of modern art with a great collection of works by artists from around the world.

Last but certainly not least, it would be a remiss not to include the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on the top list of things to visit in Vienna. The performance hall itself represents the sound of Viennese music beauty, while the performances are simply breathtaking.

And yes, if you are a true bargain hunter or simply love to shop Vienna has amazing outlet stores and unbelievable shopping centres where you can find all the brands in the world. And if you pick a holiday package in the winter season you will indulge your senses with a staggering Winter Fair.
